The NHL world was abuzz on Tuesday morning after Sidney Crosby returned to the Pittsburgh lineup with a vengeance against the New York Islanders, and he should be ready to go on Saturday when the Penguins head to Montreal, where Crosby always seems to get up for the team he idolized as a kid.
Penguins Canadiens Odds – Saturday, 7:00 PM ET
Crosby had two goals and two assists as the Penguins rolled to a 5-0 rout of the Islanders at home on Monday, and while they did very well with Crosby on the sidelines to start the season, they’re now price per head sports favorites to win the Stanley Cup. It was only one game, but Crosby picked up where he left off and it isn’t a stretch to put the Penguins at or near the top of the list.
The Canadiens were blanked 1-0 at home in Boston on Monday, as they failed to solve Tim Thomas, and Montreal ranks in the bottom half of the league in terms of scoring, so that’s no surprise. From Wednesday to Wednesday, the Canadiens play four games, with three on the road, so they’ll want to bring their “A” game at home on Saturday night.
Montreal should be slight home favorites against Pittsburgh, who are 2-3 SU in their last five trips to the Bell Center, with three games falling under the posted total. Crosby has 11 goals and 26 points in 19 games against Montreal, and if Monday was any indication, he’s back and the Penguins should really start to take off.
